Relay for Life is a fundraising event created by the American Cancer Society. Every year, over 5,000 Relay for Life events take place in 20 countries around the world!
Each event rallies the local community together in support of cancer research. You can find Relay for Life events in cities, towns, and universities around the world. Ever since it began in the 1980s, the Relay for Life is estimated to have raised over $5 billion (yes, with a ‘B’!). That money is used to improve the survival rate of cancer care, decrease incidences of cancer, and improve the quality of life of those who have been diagnosed with cancer.
We can all agree that the Relay for Life is a good cause. At LeapTee, we want to help your Relay for Life team raise as much money as possible for the event. One of the best ways to do that is to launch an online t-shirt fundraiser.
Online t-shirt fundraisers do two things: they give your team fantastic-looking t-shirts to wear for the event and they also provide your team with valuable fundraising.
These are just a few of the advantages we offer at LeapTee. Here are some more ways we can help with Relay for Life fundraising:
High quality custom shirts that feel great while running
Wearing a scratchy t-shirt when running can be a nightmare. It chafes your chest and can even cause some light bleeding. Instead of using cheap materials, we use soft, high-quality shirts and a modern fitting design.
What does that mean? It means our t-shirts are comfortable, stylish, and well-fitting. Instead of just wearing your t-shirt on run day, your team will want to wear the shirt over and over again. Why not give your contributors and teammates something they actually want to wear?
Sell t-shirts to friends, family, and team members
Before we manufacture your t-shirts, you must at least sell the minimum quantity needed to print (as low as 5 shirts). This is the minimum amount of shirts you need to sell in order for your shirts to be printed. In other words, if your minimum quantity needed to print is 5, you must sell at least 5 shirts for us to print and ship your shirts. If you do not meet the minimum before your fund ends, no one is charged and your shirts will not be printed or shipped.
Since your Relay for Life team may only contain a few people, we encourage you to share your fundraiser page with friends, family, and any other potential supporters in order to hit your minimum shirt goal. The more shirts you sell, the more money you’ll raise!
After setting up your fundraiser, we also give you a custom LeapTee URL that you can use to share with everyone in your network. Spread the word through email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or whatever other services you use.
Setting up a fundraiser has never been easier
Even simple fundraisers – like bake sales – require a bit of planning. LeapTee fundraisers, however, require only a minimal amount of effort on your part. We believe fundraising should be a team effort, and that’s why we do a lot of the hard work for you.
We’ve created a t-shirt design wizard, for example, that lets you easily create a custom t-shirt design featuring any text or logos you want. We also individually mail the t-shirt to each one of your contributors. Best of all, you get to keep 100% of all t-shirt proceeds and we only apply an 8% processing fee to additional donations.
Ultimately, launching a LeapTee fundraiser is easy. Create an account, build your t-shirt, and share with your friends and family.
We print & ship, you keep the proceeds
The Relay for Life is an excellent cause. As long as you meet your minimum shirt goal before your fund ends, we print + ship shirts to your supporters and send you the proceeds securely through PayPal.
That means more money for your Relay for Life team and more money to fight against cancer. There’s no limit to the number of t-shirts you can sell, which means you could raise thousands of dollars for your Relay for Life team.
Even more Relay for Life fundraising Ideas
Coin drives: This Relay for Life fundraising idea works particularly well for teams made up of school-age kids. Do a coin drive and collect coin in the lunchroom and classrooms at the school. Put the change jar out early and encourage students to donate whatever small change they have. Then, when the Relay for Life event begins, you’ll have plenty of spare change to donate.
Match all donations: Friends and relatives may be more likely to donate if you match every donation you receive. This doubles the amount of money your Relay for Life team raises, but it also encourages others to donate. Obviously, matching every donation isn’t an option for everyone, but it’s an excellent way to show you care about fighting cancer.
50/50 ticket sales: Sports events are a great place for anyone to raise money. You can sell 50/50 tickets or start a concessions table. People are always willing to donate to a good cause.
Jail and bail: Pick a day or week where employees at your office can get “arrested” and “bailed out.” Charge $100 to arrest an employee and place that employee in a mock prison cell. Wait until another $100 has been raised for bail. You can also do this the day of the Relay for Life event when more people are gathered around.
Team yard sale: Gather the members of your Relay for Life team together to have a team yard sale. You get to remove clutter from your house and make money for a good cause while you’re at it. Everybody wins!
